Commemoration of the fallen Slovenians on the Galician front during the First World War - Gorlice

On 15 September 2020 Ambassador mag. Božena Forštnarič Boroje, together with the defense attaché, the captain of the battleship mag. Gorazd Bartol and representatives of the municipality of Gorlice, paid tribute to the memory of the Slovenians who fell on the Galician front during the First World War.

On this occasion, a wreath and lighted candles were laid at the monument to the fallen Slovenians with the bilingual inscription 'In memory of the Slovenian soldiers 1914-1918, grateful homeland, Republic of Slovenia, 2018'. Candles were also lit at the central memorial dedicated to all the fallen victims and soldiers of various nationalities in this area of the Galician Front.

The monument to the fallen Slovenians was unveiled on 23 May 2018 during a special memorial ceremony attended by the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.
